As former Women In Technology Representative, I am happy to be recently elected Chair of the Toronto Central Chapter (TCC). The TCC continues to be a vibrant hub for networking, professional development, and community engagement. We grow and evolve as we build more and more relationships, and adapt to changing circumstances as the needs of OACETT members change. My focus now is on strategies to embrace this new role, progress in the process, and the continuation of the great work of past Chapter Executives.
The OACETT TCC is fortunate to have a strong team and foundation already. Member participation and care are the reason we maintain an effective Chapter. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Executive for their contributions and impacts on our Chapter — with special thank you(s) to the Past Chair and Vice-Chair who have given their blessings and nomination for this position.
In this role, I seek to encourage members to get involved in the Chapter—in part by hosting in-person and virtual events of your interests, and to be strategic about it—finding common ground through some creative new approaches, aligning on goals, and seizing new opportunities in working towards Chapter mandates. Let’s see opportunity where some might see problems. Let’s support and advocate for our Chapter’s development and recognition, feeding into others as champions for raising the profile of working in applied science and engineering technology professions, the benefits of careers in STEM, and how certification enhances career options and is a valuable investment.
Thank you for your engagement, your questions, and your commitment to building a remarkable society and network. Your participation is a testament to the collective effort required to foster these vital roles that we play in advancing the industry.
Let’s work together to Turn Our Intentions into Action.
